Wednesday , May 27, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Reliable sources report that the Federal Government of Somalia has instructed Gorgor special forces stationed in Xarardheere to move toward Dhuusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug State, in a move that signals escalating tensions between the federal authorities and Galmudug leadership.
The development comes after reports that recent talks between the Federal Government and Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kaariye (Qoor Qoor) have reportedly collapsed without agreement.
According to sources, the federal government is now considering alternative measures to address its political differences with the Galmudug administration, following the breakdown of dialogue.
Tensions have been building between the two sides over allegations that the Federal Government is preparing to pursue unilateral electoral arrangements in Galmudug without full consultation or agreement with the regional state authorities.
Earlier today, during Eid al-Adha remarks, Galmudug President Qoor Qoor stated that his administration would not accept any decisions imposed externally, stressing that the people of Galmudug alone have the authority to determine their political future.
The situation remains tense, with growing political uncertainty as both sides maintain firm positions on governance and electoral processes in the region.
