Wednesday , May 27, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -The President of Jubaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, has made strongly worded remarks directed at Federal President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, amid escalating political tensions between the federal government and regional administrations.

Speaking on the current political situation, President Ahmed Mohamed Islam accused the federal leadership of failing to resolve long-standing political disagreements through dialogue, stating that repeated efforts to reach agreement had not yielded results.

He warned that continued political disputes could push the country toward a more difficult and potentially unstable situation, stressing the need for consensus-based governance and national dialogue.

The Jubaland leader also referenced concerns over governance in Mogadishu, alleging grievances related to public land management and calling for previously agreed understandings with opposition groups to be respected. These claims could not be independently verified.

President Ahmed further argued that Somalia’s political process requires urgent correction, urging caution in how national leadership disputes are handled in order to avoid further instability.

He also called on international partners supporting Somalia’s federal leadership to take into consideration the ongoing political disagreements and the need for inclusive political settlement.

The remarks come at a time of heightened political friction between the federal government and some federal member states, with disputes over electoral processes, constitutional interpretation, and power-sharing continuing to dominate the political landscape.
