Saturday , May 30, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -The Police Commander of Bay region, Sadiq Doodishe, has stated that armed “militant and criminal groups” attempted to create insecurity in Baidoa, but that security forces have since brought the situation under control.

Speaking to state media outlets, Commander Doodishe said that government forces had successfully “ended the threat” and restored calm in the city following earlier clashes. However, he did not provide details on casualties.

He confirmed that federal forces had been deployed to stabilise the area, but declined to comment on reported losses during the fighting.

According to separate, verified local reports, there were casualties on both sides during the confrontation, with estimates suggesting that around 10 people may have been killed. These figures have not been independently confirmed by authorities.

The police chief maintained that Baidoa is now secure, although residents and local sources continue to report heightened military presence and a tense security environment in and around the city.
