Thursday , May 21, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire has strongly condemned a reported security operation in Dayniile, accusing government forces of carrying out violence against civilians.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Khaire alleged that “assaults, killings, torture, and abductions” were carried out against residents during a night-time operation, claiming civilians were taken from their homes and detained, with some individuals still unaccounted for.
He further accused the administration of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of using security forces to intimidate residents in Mogadishu, particularly in Dayniile, where he said communities have opposed what he described as abuses and unlawful actions.
Khaire also criticized ongoing disputes related to land and forced displacement in the capital, saying government promises to halt such practices have not been implemented.
He called on security forces to avoid involvement in operations targeting civilians and demanded the immediate release of those reportedly detained during the incident.
The Federal Government of Somalia has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
