Friday, May 29, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Iran has stated that no final ceasefire agreement has been reached with the United States, pushing back against comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier Friday.

Trump had announced that Washington was close to securing a major agreement with Tehran, outlining demands that reportedly included reopening the Strait of Hormuz, limiting Iran’s nuclear activities, and extending the current truce.

However, Iranian officials said negotiations are still ongoing and stressed that no formal deal has been finalized. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said exchanges between both sides continue, but claims of a completed agreement are “premature.”

The developments come amid rising international pressure to prevent further escalation in the Middle East, as diplomatic efforts continue behind closed doors.

Officials from both countries have indicated that talks remain active, though major disagreements reportedly persist over sanctions relief, nuclear commitments, and regional security conditions.
