Friday , May 15, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Members of Somalia’s opposition politicians have postponed the demonstration that was scheduled to take place tomorrow in Mogadishu, saying they are giving a chance to the ongoing talks between them and the Federal Government of Somalia
Their statement reads as follows:
“The Somali Salvation Forum informs the Somali public that the peaceful demonstration planned for May 16, 2026, has been postponed.
This decision was made to allow space for ongoing talks between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Somali Future Council, with mediation efforts being led by members of the international community, aimed at resolving issues related to displacement, unlawful detentions, elections, and the management of the country’s political transition period.
The Somali Salvation Forum reiterates that the planned demonstration was intended to be peaceful and aimed at calling for an end to forced displacement, unilateral elections, and to uphold the constitution, security, and citizens’ rights.
A new date for the demonstration will be announced later, depending on the outcome and progress of the ongoing discussions.”
