Wednesday , May 27, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Several Somali opposition figures, including former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire and politician Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame, joined residents in Mogadishu as the city marked Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The leaders participated alongside members of the public in Eid prayers, social visits, and community gatherings across different districts of the capital, where large crowds assembled to observe the religious holiday.
Reports from Mogadishu indicate that the celebrations were largely peaceful, with families gathering in open spaces and mosques to perform prayers, exchange greetings, and share traditional meals in line with Eid customs.
The participation of opposition politicians in public festivities was seen as part of ongoing engagement with citizens during significant religious occasions, reinforcing social and political visibility within the capital.
Eid al-Adha, one of the most important Islamic holidays, is observed across Somalia with prayers, charity, and family-centered celebrations.
