Friday, May 22, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Reports from Baidoa indicate that an armed raid was carried out tonight on the home of former security official “Aamin Mad-Daruur,” who previously served as the Police Commander of the Bay region under the South West administration.
According to local sources, forces believed to be affiliated with the Federal Government of Somalia allegedly entered the residence and confiscated an AK-47 rifle that was in the possession of the household’s security guard.
The targeted house is located in the Cadaada neighborhood of Baydhabo.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Aamin mad-Daruur is a close associate of South West State President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed “Lafta Gareen,”
The incident has triggered strong reactions and growing tensions, with relatives and supporters of the former commander reportedly mobilizing and expressing anger over the raid and the circumstances surrounding it.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the Federal Government of Somalia or South West State authorities explaining the operation or clarifying the reasons behind the security action.
