Wednesday , May 27, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -The President of Somaliland has strongly responded to remarks reportedly made by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who stated that he would not allow the Somaliland flag to be raised in Jerusalem.

In his response, the Somaliland President dismissed the comments, saying “the game is over,” and insisted that the Federal Government of Somalia has no authority or influence over Somaliland’s political decisions, foreign engagements, or international positioning.

He emphasized that Somaliland has long been engaged in strengthening its governance structures and state institutions, and has made significant progress in advancing its political and diplomatic objectives. According to him, Somaliland continues to operate independently, guided by its own national priorities and the interests of its people.

The President further stated that Somaliland manages its internal and external affairs autonomously and will continue to pursue its chosen political direction without external interference.

The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions and exchanges between Mogadishu and Hargeisa over issues related to sovereignty, international representation, and Somaliland’s contested status.

As of now, the Federal Government of Somalia has not issued an official detailed response to the latest comments from the Somaliland President.
