Sunday, May 24, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -A member of the South West State Parliament, MP Cabdiwahaab Macallin Salaad, has officially joined forces aligned with South West State President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed “Laftagareen” in areas surrounding Baidoa, the administrative capital of the Bay region.

The lawmaker was warmly received on Sunday by former South West State Security Minister Hassan Cabdiqaadir and the former South West State government spokesperson during a gathering attended by officials and supporters from across the region.

According to officials, the MP’s move represents a significant political development amid ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation and unity within South West State.

Speaking during the reception, Hassan Cabdiqaadir praised the parliamentarian’s decision to join what officials described as the “struggle for the liberation of South West State.” He stressed that unity among political leaders, security forces, and local communities remains essential for restoring stability and strengthening the regional administration’s control across South West territories.

The former South West State spokesperson also welcomed the MP’s decision, saying the administration remains committed to working with all political stakeholders to promote peace, security, and development throughout the region.

The latest development comes at a time of growing uncertainty in Baidoa, where tensions continue to rise between forces aligned with President Laftagareen and troops supporting the federal government-backed administration based in the city.

Sources close to the situation say forces loyal to Laftagareen have pledged to “liberate” Baidoa from what they describe as Mogadishu-backed forces, while reports indicate that the administration currently controlling the city is struggling to contain the rapidly evolving political and security situation.

Local sources also report that soldiers have increasingly been leaving Baidoa on a daily basis to join Laftagareen-aligned forces stationed on the outskirts of the city, raising concerns about possible shifts in the balance of power in the region.

Political observers say the movement of lawmakers and security personnel toward Laftagareen-aligned camps could significantly reshape the political landscape in South West State in the coming weeks.

The South West administration has recently intensified calls for unity and mobilization, arguing that collective action is necessary to secure lasting peace, stability, and regional autonomy across South West territories.
