Monday, June 15, 2026 (Baidoa Online) - The Galmudug State administration has issued a significant statement regarding the country’s ongoing political situation, announcing that it does not recognize or support the disputed electoral committee currently at the center of national controversy.

Speaking to the media, Galmudug’s Minister of Information, Ali Mahmud Seeko, stated that Galmudug cannot be part of an electoral process overseen by a committee whose chairperson is perceived as aligned with one of the political sides involved in the dispute.

The regional administration emphasized that credible elections can only take place under an independent and impartial electoral body that enjoys the confidence of all stakeholders.

Galmudug further argued that any election process lacking neutrality risks undermining public trust and could deepen existing political tensions. The state called for the establishment of a genuinely independent election committee capable of conducting a transparent, fair, and inclusive electoral process.

The statement comes amid growing disagreements among Somali political actors over the composition and legitimacy of electoral institutions, raising fresh concerns about the country’s electoral roadmap and political stability.
