Friday , May 15, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -The Future Council of Somalia has announced the collapse of talks it was holding with the Federal Government, citing a breakdown in negotiations over key political arrangements.

The group stated that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud rejected proposals for a comprehensive political agreement based on an inclusive transitional framework, national consensus, and shared responsibility. According to the Council, these proposals were intended to address the constitutional vacuum arising from the end of the President’s term, which expires today, 15 May 2026.

The opposition bloc said the failure of the talks marks a setback for efforts to reach a broad-based political settlement aimed at ensuring a smooth and agreed-upon transition process.
