Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe) on Tuesday received Acting U.S. Ambassador to Somalia Justin Davis and the delegation he led in Kismayo, the capital of Jubaland State, for high-level discussions on security cooperation, Somalia’s political landscape, and efforts to advance an inclusive national dialogue.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed ongoing cooperation in security and stabilization efforts, with particular focus on strengthening collaboration in the fight against terrorism and supporting peace and stability across Somalia.
The discussions also covered recent political developments in the country and the importance of an inclusive political process that engages all stakeholders in addressing key national issues. Both sides emphasized the need for dialogue, consensus-building, and cooperation to promote unity and long-term stability.
The meeting comes amid heightened political debate over constitutional reforms, electoral processes, and relations between the Federal Government and Federal Member States. Jubaland has consistently advocated for broad-based consultations and a consensus-driven approach to resolving national political challenges.
Security remains a major priority as Somali forces, supported by international partners, continue operations against Al-Shabaab in various parts of the country. The United States remains a key partner in supporting Somalia’s security sector, governance reforms, and stabilization efforts.
The engagement reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation between international partners and Somali stakeholders to support peace, security, and inclusive governance throughout the country.
