Wednesday , May 27, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Ahmed Abdi Kaariye has issued strong remarks amid rising political tensions between the Galmudug regional administration and the federal government over the upcoming electoral process.

Speaking in a public statement, President Qoorqoor emphasized that the people of Galmudug are now politically aware and will not accept decisions imposed without consensus. He stated that the era in which decisions were made without the consent of the local population is over.

His remarks come as reports indicate disagreements between the Galmudug administration and the federal government over plans to implement a unilateral electoral process in the region without broad political agreement.

In recent days, tensions have increased between the two sides, with political leaders warning that a lack of consensus could further deepen the ongoing political disputes surrounding Somalia’s broader electoral framework.

The situation highlights continuing challenges in reaching a unified agreement on elections in Somalia, particularly in federal member states where power-sharing and electoral models remain contested.
