Thursday , JuneĀ 18, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -In a statement issued following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni on 18 June 2026, the Puntland government reaffirmed its position that Puntland’s security forces are not part of the Somali National Army until all outstanding disputes between Puntland and the Federal Government of Somalia are resolved, including disagreements over the framework for establishing a federal national army.

The Cabinet directed all Puntland security and justice institutions to ensure that no military personnel or vehicles not affiliated with Puntland’s security forces are allowed to be stationed in or pass through Puntland-controlled areas.

The statement further warned that any individual or force found violating Puntland’s laws and regulations would face legal action. Authorities also called on the public to support efforts aimed at maintaining security and stability across Puntland.

According to Puntland officials, any member of the Somali National Army found operating in Puntland without authorization could face action by Puntland authorities.
