Saturday, 6 June (Baidoa Online)—The Minister of Security of the South West State administration aligned with President Abdiaziz Laftagareen, Hassan Abdiqadir, together with senior officials, has conducted a visit to military camps located on the outskirts of Baidoa.

The delegation included the administration’s spokesperson Ugaas Hassan, General Aamin Mohamed Osman, Malaaq Shanla Gaab, and other senior officials.

According to officials, the visit was aimed at boosting morale and assessing the readiness of troops aligned with the Laftagareen administration.

The forces stationed outside Baidoa are reportedly preparing for operations aimed at asserting control over the city, which is currently held by forces aligned with the Federal Government of Somalia.

The visit comes amid rising political and security tensions in South West State, where rival administrations continue to dispute authority and control. One faction operates from within Baidoa under federal backing, while another, aligned with Laftagareen, maintains positions on the outskirts following previous clashes and political standoffs.

The situation reflects broader political fragmentation in the region, involving competing claims of legitimacy between the federal-backed administration and the Laftagareen-aligned faction, which includes figures described as former president and former security minister.
