Thursday, May 21, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Somali federal government forces carried out overnight security operations in several neighbourhoods of Dayniile district in Mogadishu, conducting searches for suspected weapons caches and other military equipment, according to security officials.

Residents reported a heavy security presence as troops searched homes and strategic locations during the late-night raids. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether arrests were made or weapons seized.

Dayniile is widely regarded as one of Mogadishu’s most politically sensitive districts. Many residents have openly opposed alleged land-grabbing activities, while several influential politicians from the area are aligned with opposition groups. Critics have long accused the federal government of sidelining the district because of its political stance and resistance to government-backed land policies.

The latest operation comes amid continuing security crackdowns and growing political tensions in the Somali capital.
