Wednesday, June 17, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has carried out a sudden reshuffle within the Police Military Unit leadership, removing its commander Aadan Jeele from his post and later promoting him to the rank of Senior Colonel.
According to official sources, the changes were made yesterday as part of internal adjustments within the security command structure. Aadan Jeele had been serving as the head of the Police Military Unit, which plays a key role in security operations in Mogadishu.
Shortly after being relieved of his command duties, he was elevated in military rank, though authorities have not issued a detailed explanation for the decision or the circumstances surrounding the reshuffle.
The rapid sequence of removal and promotion has drawn attention, as no formal statement has clarified whether the move is linked to operational restructuring, routine rotation, or other internal considerations.
