Sunday , JuneĀ 14, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), together with First Lady Fardowsa Mohamed Roble, has arrived in Israel on Sunday for a high-profile state visit marking a new phase in relations between the two sides.
This visit is the first official trip to Israel by a sitting Somaliland head of state and follows Israelās formal recognition of Somaliland in December 2025. The trip had initially been scheduled for March but was postponed, according to earlier reports.
During the visit, President Cirro is expected to hold talks with Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the Presidential Residence in Jerusalem. The discussions are set to focus on strengthening diplomatic ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
The Somaliland delegation includes senior officials such as the Minister of Defense, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of the Presidency, Governor of the Central Bank, Minister of Water Development, and the Minister of Minerals and Investment.
Officials familiar with the visit say the agenda includes discussions on trade and investment, water development, mineral resources, security cooperation, and broader regional partnerships. Several agreements are expected to be signed during the visit.
Analysts say the arrival marks a significant moment in SomalilandāIsrael relations, with both sides seeking to deepen engagement and formalize cooperation in key strategic areas.
