Wednesday, June 17, 2026 (Baidoa Online) -The President of Somaliland has denied reports that Israel has established military bases in Somaliland, dismissing claims of a foreign military presence in the territory.
Speaking in an interview with I24 news, the president said Somaliland does not host Israeli military facilities and rejected suggestions that such bases are operating within its borders.
Asked about the possibility of attacks from Yemen’s Houthi Movement, he said Somaliland was not seeking confrontation with any party.
“We are not enemies of anyone,” he said, adding that Somaliland would, however, defend itself against any attack.
The comments come amid growing regional speculation over Somaliland’s foreign relations and security partnerships, particularly following reports linking the territory to potential strategic cooperation in the Red Sea region. Officials in Somaliland have repeatedly said their foreign engagements are aimed at advancing security and economic interests rather than targeting other countries or groups.
